Luxury Austria chalets

Chalet ski holidays in Austria

Austria is known for its high standard of catered chalet accommodation. There are ski holiday package options ranging from those with 2 star facilities (which are still of a very respectable standard) to those in the finest luxury 4 and 5 star chalets, offering a wide variety of price and choice. This allows even those on a tighter budget to experience one of the best skiing holiday experiences of being hosted in a home away from home, with the comfort without the chores. Most catered chalets provide cooked breakfasts, afternoon tea and cake when you return from the slopes, free wine with your 3 course evening meal and ski hosting service where your chalet hosts will guide you around the best skiing in the area. There are plenty of ski in ski out chalet options too but to ensure your chances of securing one of these its best to book early. We try to keep our rating system on the conservative side, so occasionally we might give a 4.5 rating to a chalet that is amazing but falls slightly short of five stars.

Catered chalet holidays in Austria

Austria is fast becoming the most popular ski destination for British skiers and snowboarders. Fast catching the top ski country France because it has never “taken the mick” with in-resort prices for drinking and eating out, Austrian resorts also top their Gaelic neighbours in terms of the welcome of the locals. The spectacular mountain ranges are the perfect backdrop to enjoy the world beating ski areas and glaciers which are suitable for literally all levels of skiers and boarders.
Austria has some of the best ski resorts in Europe, with miles of tree-lined pistes descending into traditional mountain villages filled with chocolate box catered chalets which ooze Austrian alpine charm. Add to that the now legendary après ski scene (if you've never partied in St Anton or Mayrhofen, well then you've not seen the world's best apre ski), value for money in resort, outstanding quality of service and friendliness it is easy to understand why Austrian ski holidays are a favourite with British skiers, challenging France for the number one spot.

Austrian resorts and après ski

The memorable Austrian resorts offer the ultimate skiing experience with lots of choice skiing for all levels of boarders and skiers alike. Although the resorts in Austria are generally lower than those in France, this isn't usually an issue during the main season, it is worth checking, however, the snow reports and history before booking a very early or very late date in the season.
Austria is renowned for vibrant Apres ski, especially in resorts such as Mayrhofen and St Anton with venues such as the MooserWirt and Crazy Kangaruh, situated at the top of the last piste. Make sure your ski boots are comfortable enough to dance in and beware that leaving after dark (and slightly over-refreshed) can make finding your skis and doing the last run into town a little challenging. All part of the fun! As in St Anton, apres in Austria often starts on the mountain slopes, why not try a cosy gluhwein at a warm and welcoming mountain hut. In the smaller Austrian resorts the Apres is also good with the friendly atmosphere so typical of Austria.
